Experiencing the Promotion of God - Pt. 1
“It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another.”
Psalm 75:7-8
Have you ever felt like life and success weren’t moving fast enough? That you should be farther down the road than you are now? That you should have more influence or a bigger platform?
I have yet to meet a young leader that hasn’t felt that way at some point. So you’re not alone.
One of the subjects I’m most passionate about is the biblical topic of promotion.
How does promotion work? Where does it come from? And how do we position ourselves to receive it?
Well, there are a few key things to know if you want to experience promotion and increased influence.
The first is this: 1) Promotion Comes From God. Not From Man.
The first thing we must grasp is that promotion comes from God alone.
Psalm 75:7-8 says, “It is God who judges: He brings one down, He exalts another.”
Additionally, Romans 13:1 says, “Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.”
God is sovereign over all positions of influence and authority. According to Scripture, no one is in a place of authority by accident. All authority is the result of either God’s appointment or God’s allowance.
In the Old Testament, even men like Pharaoh, Cyrus, and Nebuchadnezzar rose to power as a result of God’s sovereignty. For He says, “I have raised you up” (Exodus 9:17). It was not their wit, luck, or hard work. It was ultimately the sovereign hand of God.
Too often we work for the approval of man. Or we believe that our lack of promotion is the result of unjust or unfair leaders.
But promotion comes from God, not from man.
In the coming weeks, we’ll talk about how:
Promotion From God Is Unstoppable.
Self-Promotion Prevents the Promotion of God.
The Greater the Work, the Longer the Process.
As we prepare to go on this journey, ask yourself the following questions:
Do I really trust what the Word of God says? That promotion comes from God alone? Why or why not?
The best indication of what you believe is how you behave. Knowing this, what does your life say you believe about God being in control of your promotion? Do your actions say you believe that? Or do they tell a different story?
